My Why

As a young founder, my commitment to Puerta Abierta is fueled by a deep personal connection to the problem I'm solving—financial illiteracy within the Hispanic community. This issue is not just a statistic for me; it's a lived reality that I have witnessed among friends and family. The resilience I saw in my community, the hard work despite financial uncertainties, has imbued me with a relentless drive to empower through education. I refuse to take the easy road out because I've seen the tangible difference financial knowledge can make. It's about lifting up a community that's brimming with potential but has been historically overlooked. When challenges arise, as they inevitably do, I draw strength from this purpose. I remind myself that every hurdle is an opportunity to learn and come back stronger, that every 'no' brings me closer to a 'yes,' and that true change is never easy but always worth the effort.

Furthermore, as a young woman in the entrepreneurial space, I am acutely aware of the underrepresentation of Hispanic females in leadership roles. I feel a strong responsibility to be a role model for other young Hispanic individuals, especially girls. I want to show them that their dreams are valid and achievable. I strive to be a living testament to the fact that one's background, gender, or cultural heritage should not be seen as barriers, but as unique strengths that bring diverse perspectives and innovative solutions to the table.

Through Puerta Abierta, I am not only teaching financial literacy; I am also advocating for representation, empowerment, and the shattering of glass ceilings. I aspire to inspire a generation of young Hispanic girls to pursue their passions with grit and ambition, to embrace their heritage proudly, and to remember that they, too, can be changemakers in their communities and beyond. It's about creating a ripple effect – one where each girl empowered by our mission becomes a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change in her own right.

I am the right founder to tackle this because my story intertwines with those I aim to help. My grit comes from a lineage of fighters who've turned every struggle into a step forward. My ambition is a torch passed down from generations who have aspired for a better life. The passion I hold is a mosaic of every hope, dream, and aspiration that my community carries. I feel a profound duty—not just to my company or to myself, but to the future generations. This is not just a business; it's a mission to weave financial literacy into the cultural tapestry of my people, enabling them to construct a future where they are not just participants but leaders of their economic destinies. It's not about changing the world abstractly; it's about changing the world of every individual who learns to manage their money wisely through Puerta Abierta.
